Volunteers wanted for the NNI's nanotechnology exhibit at the 2016 USA Science and Engineering Festival on April 16-17, 2016, from 9am-6pm at the Washington DC Convention Center
Who We Are and What We’re Doing: We are from the National Nanotechnology Coordination Office (NNCO) and we are currently seeking volunteers to help host a nanotechnology booth at the USA Science and Engineering Festival (USASEF). The USASEF is the biggest science and engineering festival in the country, with 350,000 visitors expected this year. The event will be held at the Washington DC Convention Center on April 16-17 from 9am-6pm. This is a great opportunity to attend the festival and add to your science communications skill set!
Volunteers will be asked to use tabletop demos to illustrate nanotechnology concepts to visitors, and to answer their questions. A science and engineering background or interest in this field is helpful for this event. If you aren’t a nanotechnology expert, that’s ok! These demos were specifically developed to be easy to use and understand. Each demo comes with simple instructions. And don’t worry, if you have any questions about the demos or about nanotechnology, a staff member will be on site to help you. We want the event to be fun for our volunteers as well as our visitors.
We plan to staff the booth with 3-4 volunteers for each 90-minute shift. If you have a friend or two you’d like to work with, please let us know and we will try our best to accommodate that request. When you are not staffing the booth you will be free to explore the USASEF!
