The need to support the physical and cyber infrastructure required to conduct nanoscience and to make these facilities broadly available was recognized at the inception of the NNI. To meet this need, several agencies support networks to provide access to this important infrastructure. User facilities critically enable research and development and accelerate commercialization by co-locating a broad suite of nanotechnology tools and providing expert staff to ensure the most productive use of these resources. The facilities also support the development of advanced nanoscale fabrication methods and measurement tools The NNI user facilities are a vital resource for nanotechnology education and workforce training.
Brief presentations on three user facility networks are provided below to inform discussions at the 2021 NNI Strategic Planning Stakeholder Workshop. Each presentation provides a summary of the network and identifies the resources available and how to access them.
